The village of Chateauneuf du Pape and the communes which surround it make many different types of wine with the village being a southern Rhone region AOC. To say thank you, the winemakers union in this village deemed Parker an honorary village citizen.
One winery you'll want to visit when in the region is Domaine St. Benoit. Situated on 26 hectares, this winery was founded in 1989 with the merging of three village winemakers. This domaine is one of the few in the region to feature all thirteen permitted varieties of grapes. Another place you should check out when in this area of France is Maison des Vins.
